On top of all that, you can take part in our Guided Active Programme for free.

Welcome drinks are a thing of the past: the Welcome Card can do much more

It’s nice to be offered a welcome drink at your accommodation. But it's even better to be given the free Welcome Card. If you’re staying for a minimum of two nights at one of our partner establishments, the Welcome Card allows you to take part in our Guided Active Programme for free. This means you can join a selection of varied winter hikes, snowshoe tours and taster cross-country ski courses accompanied by professional guides. The Welcome Card also offers discounts for other winter sports activities, indoor swimming pools and cultural attractions in the city. The Welcome Card plus, which is valid with a stay of at least three nights, includes two other special highlights: one return trip on the gondolas in Oberperfuss and a 20% discount on a ticket for the Nordkettenbahnen and Patscherkofelbahn.

FAQs

How and where do I get the card? Is it also possible to buy the card?

You can get the free Welcome Card directly from your accommodation provider. A list of partner companies can be found here. The Welcome Card is linked to the guest registration process at your accommodation. Innsbruck Tourismus (the Innsbruck Tourist Board) created the "Welcome Card" and the "Welcome Card plus" as a service available to every accommodation provider in the region. It is the accommodation provider's decision whether to offer this service to guests or not and Innsbruck Tourismus cannot require them to do so. With a stay of 3 or more nights at a partner company, you will automatically receive the free Welcome Card plus from your accommodation provider. The Welcome Card and the Welcome Card plus are not available for purchase. The card cannot be issued at tourist information centres.

Can I get the Welcome Card before my holiday? And can I use the card on my day of arrival and my day of departure?

It is possible to get the Welcome Card before your holiday. To do this, you need to contact your accommodation provider in advance. The card is valid on both your day of arrival and your day of departure. Unless a limited number of uses is specified for a service, the service can be used multiple times. Please take note of the usage restrictions in the detailed descriptions.

How do I know which public transport services I can use for free with the Welcome Card?

All of the routes within the Innsbruck region that are operated by the VVT (Verkehrsverbund Tirol) and the IVB (Innsbrucker Verkehrsbetriebe)*, as well as regional trains operated by the ÖBB (Austrian Federal Railways), are included. A detailed list showing all of the included routes, as well as the end points where the Welcome Card no longer works as a bus ticket, can be found here.

*Except the hop-on hop-off Sightseer bus and the Hungerburgbahn funicular

Can bicycles be taken on public transport and is this also included with the Welcome Card?

On trains operated by the ÖBB Austrian Federal Railways, you are in principle allowed to take your bike on the train. However, a separate ticket must be purchased for this and this is not included in the Welcome Card. The additional bike ticket is available as a day ticket or a week ticket and can be purchased from the VVT ticket shop, the ÖBB ticket shop or at the machines.

Bicycles can be taken on the IVB buses and trams in the centre of Innsbruck and on the Stubaitalbahn tram (STB tramline) for free at the following times, provided there are bike spaces available: Monday to Friday from 9 am to 3 pm and from 6.30 pm to 6 am, all day on Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays. If a bus has a bike rack on the back, it can be used for bikes at any time.

On bus routes operated by the VVT (Verkehrsverbund Tirol), bicycles can be taken on low floor buses for free, provided there is a bike space available. If there is a bike rack at the rear of the bus, this must be used.

The transport of bicycles, especially in the interior of the vehicle, cannot be guaranteed, however, as other user groups (e.g. wheelchair users and pushchairs) always have priority and the decision to transport the bike is at the discretion of the vehicle driver.

Does the Welcome Card have to be validated or stamped when being used as a ticket on public transport?

No, the Welcome Card does not have to be validated. You just need to show it if tickets are checked.

Does the Welcome Card plus also include the services provided by the Welcome Card?

Yes, it includes the Bergbahnen Oberperfuss gondola in addition to all of the services already included with a stay of 2+ nights.

Can I go straight through the cable car turnstiles with the Welcome Card plus or do I need to get a lift pass from the ticket office first?

Direct access is possible to the Oberperfuss cable cars (1 free ascent and descent included in the Welcome Card plus). At the Innsbruck Nordkettenbahnen and the Patscherkofelbahn you get the discount by showing the Welcome Card plus at the ticket office.

How often can you use the Oberperfuss mountain railway during your stay?

The Welcome Card plus (from 3 nights in the region) includes 1 ascent and descent per stay on the Bergbahnen Oberperfuss gondola for hikers and tobogganers.

Where can you rent a toboggan in Oberperfuss?

You can rent a toboggan from the following providers: Sport Haider and Skischule Kleißl.
