OUR HIGHLIGHT OFF THE PISTES

If you're looking for excellent winter fun away from the pistes, simply head to the toboggan runs in the area around Innsbruck. The region's toboggan runs are universally popular and not only attract families with children but also young people, adults, groups of friends and individual tobogganing fans. The fresh air, winter atmosphere, breathtaking views and snowy landscapes make it no surprise that the local toboggan runs are regularly visited by tourists and locals alike.

Many of the runs can be accessed by car or cable car, meaning that you don’t even have to walk up to the top. Others begin with a wintery hike up to the start of the run so that you can enjoy some exercise in the healthy Tyrolean mountain air before tobogganing back down. Speeding down the track is a feeling like no other and a proven natural pick-me-up during the cold winter months.

Tobogganing is not expensive because you don't need much equipment. Simply put on some warm clothes, grab your toboggan or sledge and off you go! You can choose the speed and distance to suit your mood. Take a look at our range of tobogganing destinations and be inspired! Huts and mountain restaurants are the perfect place to warm up and refuel and can often be found along the route and at the start of the runs.

Night tobogganing and toboggan runs with lifts and buses

Night tobogganing: If you thought tobogganing during the day was fun, just wait until you try it at night! The snow crunches under your feet and the low temperatures result in top snow conditions. Before you head off on your night-time adventure, you can fuel up at one of the many huts and mountain restaurants. You can then grab your toboggan and follow the well-lit trails leading into the valley. If your route takes you along unlit trails, we strongly recommend that you wear suitable equipment (e.g. a head torch).
Toboggan runs with lifts and buses: Do you want to race down the toboggan run more than once? Some of our runs offer the quick and convenient option of taking a lift or bus up to the top of the run so you can do it as often as you want.
