A challenging and varied circuit through fields, forests and meadows.   The route starts on Bilgeristraße road at the former bottom lift station of the Patscherkofelbahn cable car. First follow the signs for the "Lanser-Kopf-Loop Zulauf" (access route for the Lanser Kopf Loop). The route leads downhill, past the Kneipp therapy facility and straight on along the Viller Steig trail to the Viller Moor. Shortly before reaching the village of Vill, turn right and shortly afterwards left to follow the path uphill towards the forest. From there, follow the signs "Lanser Kopf Loop". After a short but intensive climb along forest trails, the route leads back downhill to the Poltenhütte farmhouse. After the Poltenhütte, take the middle path to Tantegert. From Tantegert, the route leads slightly uphill again through the forest or follows the edge of the forest towards the village of Aldrans. Before reaching Aldrans, the route leads downhill along a short, steep paved road to the Mühlbach stream and then follows the stream slightly uphill to Mühlsee lake. From the Mühlsee, a short steep section leads uphill to the golf course. Cross the golf course and then continue steeply uphill to the highest point of the route. Continue to the north of the Lanser Kopf, heading west along forest paths, before rejoining a previous section of the route for a short distance. From there, turn left downhill towards Lanser See lake. Continue past the Lanser See and then turn right and follow the route through the Viller Moor marshland to the Kneipp therapy facility. From there, head slightly uphill back to the starting point at the former Patscherkofel lift station.

This hike starts at the Arzkasten car park and follows the path past the guesthouse of the same name. After the fountain, turn right and follow the forest road north towards the Lehnberghaus mountain hut. After about 15 minutes, you'll come to a fork in the road. Turn left before the bridge and follow the "Bachweg" trail along the stream and through the forest. The path provides plenty of opportunities to enjoy impressive views of the Mieming Range, for example the Wankspitze peak (2,209 m). After just under an hour, the trail turns sharply right, away from the stream, and a short but quite steep path leads straight up to the forest road. From there, it's only a few metres to the Lehnberghaus mountain hut. For the hike back, you can either double back along the same route or follow the forest road. Optional route extension to "Lacke" viewing platform (1,704 m): From the Lehnberghaus, a hiking trail leads uphill towards "Lacke", first climbing up through alpine meadows and then continuing through the forest. When you arrive at Lacke, you'll find a giant picture frame and an impressive viewing platform with views that stretch far along the Inn Valley and over the Mieming Plateau.  Duration from the Lehnberghaus (one-way): about 30 minutes Optional route extension to "Wankspitze" summit (2,209 m / difficult): This additional section leads from the Lacke viewing platform to Wankspitze peak. Hike north along the wooded ridge and follow the trail as it snakes upwards and finally follows the final ridge right up to the summit cross. The Wankspitze is located in front of the rugged peaks of the Mieming Range and displays high alpine character. It offers fantastic views over the Mieming Plateau and the Inn Valley to Innsbruck. To the south, you can see the Stubai Alps.  Duration from the Lacke viewing platform (one-way): about 1.5 hours.

The trail is easy to walk and gives you the opportunity to experience Tyrolean nature up close at alpine heights. Several educational display boards line the route and provide information about the local flora and fauna. The route also passes two memorials near the barn of the old Lizum Alm mountain hut: one commemorates mountaineers from the local mountain association who lost their lives here, the other the crash of an American bomber near Marchreisenspitze peak during World War II. There are several benches along the way where you can take a break. The total walking time is about 75 minutes but the trail is made up of two sections that can be walked individually. The "AXAMER LIZUM" CIRCULAR HIKING TRAIL has a total length of about 3.5 km and is particularly suitable for families, senior citizens who enjoy walking and Nordic walkers. From the car park, walk past the dam, cross the field and then take the marked alpine trail that leads off to the right. Behind the forest, you'll come to a fork in the path: the path on the right leads to the Mittergrat Hütte mountain hut, the one on the left joins the AV149 trail towards the Bielefelder Hütte mountain hut and the Mittertaler Scharte. Follow the trail on the left, which initially leads gently uphill and then gets steeper as it crosses the eastern slope of the Vordere and Hintere Karles Spitz. Before the trail turns right and starts climbing very steeply uphill, you will come to a mighty boulder with a circular red-and-white marking. At this point, you should take a break before turning around and following the route back because the rest of the trail up to the Mittertaler Scharte is difficult and includes sections that are secured with wire ropes where climbing is required.
