From the car park, head through the gate and follow the gravel path towards the Stöttlalm mountain hut. Before reaching the Stöttlalm, you will come to a fork in the road. Take the route that leads through the forest towards the Boasligbrücke bridge. This good gravel path zigzags up the mountain and covers quite a few vertical metres. At the Boasligbrücke bridge, take the Pfarrer-Kathrein-Steig trail towards Henneberg and then continue along a varied and relatively steep path up to the Gachen Blick viewpoint. There you can enjoy magnificent alpine views and the impressive sight of the Judenklamm gorge below. It is possible to take an alternate route back by following the gravel road via Kohlgrube instead of the path via the Boasligbrücke bridge.

A tour through the trellises and rows of trees in Mair's Beerengarten (Mair's berry garden) is a sensory walk and impressive culinary journey in one thanks to the on-site fruit tasting. From Mair‘s Beerengarten, you walk up to the parish church and follow the "Weg der Sinne" (Path of the Senses), which leads slowly uphill towards the edge of the forest and soon turns right. The trail then gets steeper and winds around a few bends as it leads up to the Antoniuskirche church, which is well worth seeing, and the striking Kalvarienberg (or calvary hill) with its wonderful views over the Inn Valley and the surrounding mountains. From there, the trail leads back down to the centre of Rietz, past the famous Kluibenschedl house and back to the starting point.

The Glungezer-Geier route

hard hard
The ridge crossing from the Glungezerhütte mountain hut to the Lizumerhütte mountain hut via the "seven Tuxer summits" is a classic Alpine divide trek located along the Munich-Venice "Traumpfad" (Dream Way). This section is considered to be the striking Tyrolean centrepiece of the alpine crossing from the Glungezer (2,677 m) to the Lizum (2,019 m) in the Watten Valley. Access Travel from Hall to Tulfes and take the Glungezerbahn lift up to the Tulfeinalm mountain hut (single chairlift to the mountain lift station). Follow route no. 37 or 333 to the right as it leads briefly west down to the Tulfeinalm mountain hut (2,035 m). From there, go south along the "Recheis-Weg" trail up to the Tulfeinjöchl (2,278 m) and the valley lift station of the Glungezer-Materialseilbahn, a material ropeway for transporting goods. Continue along the panoramic Glungezer-Panoramasteig trail no. 333 to the Glungezerhütte mountain hut.   Sure-footedness and a good head for heights are required. The first half of the route to the Grafmartspitze doesn't always follow a path; sometimes it instead crosses areas of large rocks and boulders. However, the trail markings were recently updated so the route is well-marked and very scenic! The rocky ridge crossing from Glungezer to Lizum (Munich-Venice) is signposted throughout and secured with ropes in several places. A steel rope has been installed for the descent from Rosenjoch. When wet, however, the rocks are sometimes very slippery.  Due to the long walking time, it is absolutely necessary to leave the Glungezerhütte early in the morning. Take drinking water with you, there is no water along the route.

The Goetheweg trail to Arzler Scharte and Hungerburg

200 M 200 M
9.1 KM 9.1 KM

This high altitude hike from Innsbruck to the Karwendel Nature Park guarantees wonderful views of the Inn Valley, the city of Innsbruck, the Wipp Valley and the Stubai Valley. In the other direction, walkers can catch a glimpse of the impressive Praxmarerspitze peak. Certain sections of the Goetheweg trail are extremely narrow and rocky so surefootedness is a must. The descent via the Arzler Scharte, in particular, is quite steep and difficult. It covers 1,300 vertical metres over loose Karwendel rocks and scree, requires surefootedness and is only for experienced mountain hikers who are in a good physical condition and wearing hiking boots. The route starts at the Hafelekar, which is the top station of the Nordkettenbahnen lifts and cable cars. The bottom station is located directly in the centre of Innsbruck. From the Hafelekar, take route 219 and follow it west as it leads downhill. The trail leads past Hafelekarspitze on the south side of the peak and then continues downhill for a short distance before following a level path on the southern side of the mountain. The trail then snakes its way briefly uphill before heading diagonally down into the Mühlkar corrie. Continue west below the Mandlspitze peak and then follow the trail steeply uphill to the Mandelscharte. From there, continue west again down to the Arzler Scharte.  The descent from the Arzler Scharte (route 217) follows a steep trail that leads south down a talus slope. The trail covers 1,300 vertical metres over loose Karwendel rocks and scree, requires surefootedness and is only for experienced mountain hikers who are in a good physical condition and wearing hiking boots. Upon reaching the forest, the trail continues straight down the mountain. At the next turnoff (not signposted), keep right to stay above the road and follow the narrow mountain path to the Arzler Alm mountain hut, where you can enjoy a well-deserved refreshment break. From there, it's just a short walk back to Hungerburg along a signposted mountain path.

From Grünberg car park, follow the signs towards Simmering. After following the forest road for about an hour, you'll come to Zwischensimmering where a bench at the side of the path invites you to take a short break. From there, turn right and follow signs towards the Simmeringalm. As soon as you pass the first bend, turn left off the forest road to follow the Harnersteig trail into the beautiful forest. The trail snakes slowly up the mountain until it comes to a fork in the path with a sign that points left to the Haiminger Alm mountain hut. If you turn left, you come to an alpine meadow with a hunting lodge: the Harnerhütte. A discreetly signposted path leads through the meadow past the hut. From there, the route continues along a narrow hiking trail for about 45 minutes and then joins a forest road. After about another fifteen minutes, you reach the rustic Haiminger Alm with its wonderful alpine pastures and fantastic views of the Inn Valley and the Stubai Alps. The route back initially follows the same forest road. When you come to the fork, however, the route diverges from the path to the Simmeringalm and the Harnersteig trail and instead follows the hiking trail that leads through the forest above the Inn Valley. Continue along this trail for about an hour to Zwischensimmering. From there, follow the same forest road back to the starting point.   Highlight: "Inntalblick" viewing platform (1,320 m): On the way back, it is well worth taking a detour from Zwischensimmering to the "Inntalblick" viewing platform. The walk from Zwischensimmering takes about 15 minutes.
