Innsbruck’s hugely varied local mountain

The Patscherkofel

In Innsbruck, the locals affectionately refer to the Patscherkofel as their “local mountain” and use it for hiking, skiing and good food. The Patscherkofel is located south of the city and is very striking with its radio mast and rounded peak. It offers magnificent 360° views: Innsbruck lies at your feet to the north. To the south, you have wonderful panoramic views of the secluded Wipp Valley. To the east, the Zirbenweg trail at 2,000 metres above sea level leads off on a wonderful hike through the oldest pine trees in Europe and the splendid alpine roses. The Patscherkofel: one of Innsbruck’s must-sees.

Great views with limited effort: the Zirbenweg trail runs with only a slight incline between ancient pine trees. The destination is Glungezer mountain, east of Innsbruck.
